The reasoning behind Wintour’s sudden sympathy for Black people is allegorical to what some claim is the bedrock of fashion: trend.

It’s really important to support local, as well as support companies in fashion that are sustainable and making a huge effort to be inclusive. Supporting such initiatives can raise awareness for the company and introduce it to more people.

It’s important to encourage people to really consider the ethical implications of where and how they are buying their clothing. However, it’s also important to encourage fashion-lovers and creatives of all economic statuses to be bold, and to wear what they love and what makes them feel how they are meant to feel.

Velvet, cordouroy, etc. have been front runners in the recent fall collections of major designers and for department store brands. This trend is not to be overlooked. Texture is the perfect way to express style and personality in a work environment.
