2026 Fashion Predictions

While microtrends will likely continue throughout 2026, here are two of my fashion trend predictions that I believe will last throughout the year:

Funky Animal Prints

Leopard print and zebra print were everywhere last year, and I predict that more animal prints will rise to the forefront this year. As polka dots dominated last year, I think people will gravitate towards polka dot adjacent animal prints like deer and Dalmatian spots. Deer started making an appearance in fashion, with Target dropping a deer-print jacket this past December that blew up on social media. I believe this pattern will only get bigger in 2026. While deer print brings a cutesy, innocent vibe, Dalmatian spots bring an elegant design that might garner more interest among high-fashion companies. We may see these prints on fur jackets like we have seen with other animal prints last year, but I’m also anticipating animal-print tights due to the rise of unique hosiery and footwear. 

After the popularity of polka dots, I predict tiger print will overpower all the patterns in 2026 due to its symbolism of strength and power.

Revival of Unique Colorful 2000s Athleisure

With the rise of AI, people are craving individuality that stands out from robotic, repetitive norms. I predict that this will eventually kill the “clean girl pilates princess” aesthetic that has dominated athleisure for the past few years. People do not want to be clean and perfect anymore—they want to be human, with all the mess and fun that comes with it. Since athleisure in fashion shows no signs of dying out anytime soon, I predict that athleisure will become more fun, colorful and even a bit messy this year. 

Since fashion trends often repeat approximately every 20 years, it’s only natural to expect 2000s athleisure to come back in full swing. We’re already seeing a 2000s athleisure revival with the Victoria’s Secret PINK fold-over yoga pants making a comeback in 2025. I predict this will only continue to grow, with people thrifting vintage pieces and companies eventually catching on. Expect to see a lot of yoga pants, tank tops with fun patterns and color combinations and a revival of the messy bun. This shift will alter athleisure wear, maybe even beyond 2026.
