New York Summers Reimagined by Ethan Lewy in New Pop-Up

June 10th marks the introduction of Ethan Lewy’s newest and first spring/summer line of menswear, The Flying Point Collection, with a pop-up in New York City’s Lower East Side.

Ethan Horing, the founder and creative director of Ethan Lewy, is reimagining the summerwear of vacationers as they escape the city out east for the Hamptons. When asked about the collection’s inspiration, Horing explained he wanted to create clothes that he wished to see people wearing out east on vacation–clothes with charm.

Despite having recently graduated with his MFA from FIT in May of last year, he has been officially running this brand for just over a year. Ethan Lewy has already dressed the likes of Jungkook, Dua Lipa, and Joe Jonas, to name a few.

In a time where brand craftsmanship is often overlooked for profit margins. Ethan Lewy is a true standout. Using deadstock fabrics and working closely with an atelier in the garment district, E.L. creates limited-edition capsule collections with a clear focus on intentionality, details, and a touch of whimsy. It is evident, down to the stitching and matching buttons, that nothing goes overlooked. These details are what make this brand so charming and a visual feast for anyone who is familiar with sewing techniques.

Throughout the 32-piece collection, motifs such as stripes, plaid, and notably seersucker are paired with traditional menswear styles to create a nuanced mix. These elements are structured into several style subsets, each featuring four to five looks. Since Horing primarily uses deadstock fabrics nearing the end of their rolls, he creates very limited runs of each look. So, if you see a piece that catches your eye, I suggest you best give it a try without leaving it behind! Personally, I wish I had left with the new Polka-Dot Camper Shirt or Seersucker Corduroy Shorts.

The pop-up runs from June 10th-21st and is located at 251 Elizabeth St. If you happen to be in NYC this week, it’s definitely worth the trip downtown.

After seeing this collection in person and hearing a little about what is to come for Ethan Lewy in the near future, this is definitely a brand to keep on your radar.
